Art Challenge 2014

RULES
* Explicit or offensive themes are not allowed.
* Fanart is allowed but NOT specific words relating to fanart. "Assassin" can be a theme but "Assassin's Creed" cannot. Not everyone likes the same things. The freedom for people to put their own spin on it needs to be there.
* Themes can be repeated, but three months must have passed by since the last time it was used.
* New themes must be sent out the day before the challenge is due to start. This gives people in other timezones a fair chance.
* Any artistic medium is fine. Pencils, paints, pens, digital art, photography, literature - anything. Don't feel like you're excluded from it because you work with X medium. Obviously the time limit makes some easier than others, but they're all allowed.
* As long as the piece wasn't finished before the challenge, or if it has been finished but will be otherwise altered during the allotted time, it is acceptable to submit older works. Obviously, it still needs to fit within the theme of the challenge.
* "Unfinished" pieces are fine. It doesn't matter if it's just a sketch or only partly coloured. Again, it's the attempt that counts, and you may find you have time one day to go back and work on it more outside the challenge. The point of the challenge is to get your art brain thinking and motivated, not to give you a meltdown.
* Deciders are chosen in alphabetical order of whatever name you prefer being called by (username or nickname, etc. You don't have to use your real name). This makes it easier for new people to be slotted into the schedule.
* Themes are currently chosen alternately by myself and Derf from Canned Comics, as our comrades lack the time to commit to the deadlines at the moment. You're welcome to join in on what we're doing: if we haven't published the theme anywhere, feel free to ask us for it. My email is on my About page.

SUBMISSION
* The challenge begins at 00:00 on the start date and ends at 23:59 on the end date, regardless of your time zone. Therefore, different people will have different finishing times, but everyone has had the same amount of days and nights to work on it regardless of where they live.
* Challenges currently run for two weeks, twice a month. 1st-14th, 15th-28th. If you miss one, you can always catch the next one.
* You can upload to your blog, your Twitter, your deviantART account - it doesn't matter. You don't even have to upload it anywhere at all, or show anyone ever. Team spirit helps, and keeping a record of what you do is a great idea for inspiration and keeping track of your progress, but the challenge only requires an attempt. It's okay if it's never uploaded, as long as you tried.

REDO CHALLENGE
* Every six months, there will be no new word. Instead, the challenge is to redo a previous piece (preferably an art challenge, but I suppose it isn't essential). We like to see some evidence that we haven't improved in the slightest.
